"I would recommend Guardian for an apprenticeship-it’s a fantastic place to learn and gain hands-on experience with fully supportive staff".
Callum Devine
"I chose the apprenticeship route to enhance my confidence and acquire hands-on experience alongside experienced engineers. I received support from both staff and management in my role, and whenever I had issues or needed advice, people were always willing to assist. My daily tasks cover a range, including servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, and quoted works. I find it enjoyable because each workday brings something different.
Achieving my commercial gas qualification stands out as my major accomplishment since joining Guardian. It’s a goal I’ve been striving for since the beginning of my apprenticeship. Out on the road with different mentors, I’ve picked up various ways of doing things and gained valuable knowledge from their experience”.
Callum Devine, Commercial Gas & Plumbing Engineer
"An apprenticeship gave me the chance to gain real-world experience while continuing to learn, developing practical skills in a professional environment rather than just in a classroom. I've had brilliant support along the way, from colleagues always willing to help, to regular check-ins and feedback that have helped me grow. Every day is different, balancing my usual responsibilities with my apprenticeship learning, and I've become far more confident and independent as a result. What I enjoy most is the people and the environment, everyone is approachable, and I've been given real responsibility that's helped me develop both my technical and communication skills. Looking back at where I started compared to now, it's something I'm really proud of".
Chloe Smith, Business Administration Apprentice
“Entering the world of work as a nervous apprentice and not knowing what to expect was daunting, but the team were so helpful, welcoming, and friendly. Guardian invests in apprentices, helping individuals to kickstart their career and learn in an impactful way, I was fortunate enough to be able to complete two apprenticeships here. The MD recognises the importance of bringing in young employees in the industry, and you have a fantastic support system at Guardian to ease you into the working world. Every day you learn and grow, in an environment where you enjoy working!”
Kaya Baker, Business Development Executive
“I was informed of the position by a friend, who was working for Guardian and still is. They told me it would be a great place to gain knowledge & build skills that I would need to get into the electrical industry and become a qualified electrician. And to date, it’s been good.
My college course really helped me to be able to reflect on the work I’ve done, it’s a good balance of practical and theory work.
The thing I enjoy most about working at Guardian would have to be the people. Honestly everyone I’ve encountered and spoken to have really helped me build my skills and knowledge. Staff have been patient, positive and supportive”.
Kian Bennett, Commercial Electrical Engineer
“A typical day in my role is helping to manage the engineer’s timetable. I help by booking in work and assigning engineers to callouts. I also answer phone calls and emails answering customer’s queries and assisting them in any way I can. This helps with the running of the business on the day to day. Someone should consider an apprenticeship because it’s a great way to start yourself off in the world of work. By learning and working at the same time I have been able to apply my learning while at work, and therefore able to improve my performance. Guardian has given me opportunities to input my own feedback on the business itself, and it feels good to be in a business that appreciates my thoughts and opinions”.
Maegan Chaplin, Planner
"I joined Guardian after hearing great feedback from former apprentices, wanting practical, professional experience rather than just classroom learning - and after a gap year, an apprenticeship felt like the right path over university. My colleagues and managers have been hugely supportive, always happy to answer questions, and as I've progressed, I've been given more responsibility, which has boosted my confidence. Every day is varied - from managing the student inbox and processing job sheets to raising quotes, booking maintenance visits, and handling calls from customers, suppliers and engineers - alongside a dedicated day each week for college work. I've loved the variety, the people, and getting to contribute my own project to the business. My biggest achievement has been building confidence and knowledge from scratch in a completely new industry, learning by observing, listening and asking questions in the office. I'd highly recommend a Guardian apprenticeship to anyone - it's given me a real qualification alongside genuine workplace experience and a great start to my career."
